Trend Alert: Barefoot Glamour

Laid-back and glamorous may not seem like a natural pair, but they come together elegantly in one of the year’s hottest event design trends of the year, Barefoot Glamour. This Aussie twist on the recently outrageously popular boho style mixes metals with high-end materials to achieve a feeling of relaxation and escape.

Black-tie & beach weddings

If you love beach weddings, but are loathe to give up the sophistication of a black tie event, Barefoot Glamour is for you. Coastal meets luxe, blending lavish celebration and the natural, ethereal beauty of the ocean. Any wedding amidst the waves can be upgraded with candles in sea glass, premium guest chairs, or metallic elements like shiny gold lanterns.

Backyard chic

Barefoot Glamour can also translate into super-chic backyard-style weddings. By upgrading linens, glassware, flatware and décor, and focusing on lighting and floral design that features premium blooms with metallic accents, you can achieve the infinite elegance that defines the trend.

Fashion & barefoot glamour

In fashion, you’ll see sandals with crystal embellishments paired with formal wedding gowns instead of traditional heels—or even foot jewelry to replace shoes altogether, true to the barefoot name. Neutrals dominate in makeup, but with enough emphasis on the drama of the eyes to make a look appropriate for an evening event. Hairstyles like messy buns or loose flowing curls are great expressions of this theme.

Complementary trends

Barefoot Glamour plays well with many of the other hottest trends of the year, too. Celebrating the fruits of nature by using driftwood to build an arch for an oceanfront altar, for example, then adding flowers such as peonies and garden roses that bring a more formal flare is a twist on the obsession with all things outdoors and wild. Gold and rose gold are both in high demand, and can be incorporated as accents into place settings, centerpieces, cake design, and more. Palettes of cool blues, greens, and shades of white are considered some of the best shades for Barefoot Glamour design.

If you love the idea of waves lapping in the background while you say, “I Do,” but hesitate because you also appreciate a polished, sophisticated wedding design, Barefoot Glamour is just the trend for you!
