Wedding Décor Trends: The 2016 Forecast

As wedding season nears, we’re seeing certain trends emerging on the scene and we’re excited to see what’s in store for us in 2016! Let’s take a look at some of the up-and-coming wedding décor styles that you can expect to keep an eye out for:

Rich metallics
Who doesn’t love things that come in shades of gold, copper, and bronze? These precious metals can be used to accent any theme—whether it’s rustic chic or luxury glam. While these have been steadily growing in both the fashion world and the home décor industry, we’re excited to see some of these shiny hues to take center stage at this year’s weddings.

A touch of romance
There’s no question that a wedding should be romantic, but one of the best ways to maximize on the intimate ambiance is to employ event lighting to strike the mood. Soft candlelight paired with elegant chandeliers makes for a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will set the tone for a cozy and friendly celebration. More and more, couples are even mixing aesthetics by bringing in ornate crystal chandeliers and lush drapery to a natural, rustic setting. It adds just the right amount of elegance!

Patterns & prints
Who needs to pick colors when one can pick patterns? Expect to see a lot of prints in this year’s weddings. From plaid to floral to geometric, 2016 celebrations will be bolder than ever. However, some patterns will decline in popularity as they become outdated—think chevron and Moroccan patterns that have been on the scene for several seasons now.

Jewel toned love
In addition to metallics, jewel tones are on the rise. While pastels will always have their place in the wedding industry, couples are flocking towards the vibrant shades of their favorite gems—emerald, sapphire, ruby, and amethyst are some of the top choices. In addition to being bold and romantic, jewel tones are also a great fit for any season or setting.

Au natural
Consider the natural movement as an evolution of the rustic theme that’s beginning to fade away. While wood will still be present, other natural textures will join forces to create a stunning effect. Think raw cork, stone, and minerals like agate—together, these bring an earthy feel to any celebration.

With the wedding season around the corner, it’s an exciting time for the industry as a whole. Stay tuned to the trends and be sure to incorporate them into your products and services—your clients will certainly be looking for them!
