Recipes for National Tequila Day (or any day)!

Before you start lining your wrists with salt and taking shots of tequila to celebrate the day, consider a more refined and elegant means to imbibe, as well as some facts to toss around as a means to impress. According to the Distilled Spirits Council, the tequila category has grown 140% since 2002, and in 2017 17.2 million 9-liter cases were sold in the US.

Okay, now go mix a few with these cocktails developed by Tequila Avoin.

Tried & True: Elevated Margarita

2 oz. Avion Silver
1 oz. fresh lime juice
½ part agave nectar

Method
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Double strain over fresh ice in a tumbler glass.

Fruit Forward: Avion Sunset

2 oz. Avion Silver or Avion Reposado tequila
1 oz. Lillet Rouge
Squeeze a half-lime
2 oz. Ruby Red grapefruit juice
¼ oz. agave nectar

Method
In a highball, add ice and one ounce Lillet rouge. In a cocktail shaker, add the remaining ingredients. Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into the highball slowly, as to not incorporate the Lillet (keep it layered). Garnish with the half-lime.

Delicately Delicious: Paloma

2 oz. Avion Reposado or Avion Silver Tequila
1 oz. grapefruit juice
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz. fresh lime juice
Splash club soda

Method
Build ingredients over ice in a Collins glass. Stir ingredients to chill. Garnish with a lime wedge.

An Intruguing Twist: Avion Anejo Old Fashioned

2oz. Avion Anejo
Barspoon Agave Nectar
1 dash Angostura bitters
2 dash Orange bitters

Method
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until cold, then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with an orange twist.

The Instagram Darling: Bloody Maria

2 oz. Avion Silver
2 oz. tomato juice
½ oz. Worcestershire sauce
Squeeze of lime
Salt and pepper
1 tsp horseradish
2 dash Tabasco sauce
Squeeze of lime

Method
Combine all ingredients in a tall glass with ice and stir until chilled. Garnish as desired.
