Trend Alert: Celebrity Weddings

Keeping up with the latest trends is essential in the events industry, and nothing influences the future of weddings quite like celebrity “I Dos.” We tapped our experts for the inside scoop on the hottest trends in high profile weddings, and they definitely had some amazing insight to share!

Traditional fashion

The Party Goddess’ Marley Majcher observed that celebrities aren’t necessarily embracing the same fashion trends as other couples, and instead are going more traditional. “It seems that the call for color in bridal fashion has been going for a bit,” said Majcher, “whether it's light pink hues for the gown itself or colorful shoes in shades of azure.” However, she hasn’t really seen celebrities embracing the color story. “Instead,” she predicted, “I think we're going to keep seeing A-listers wearing white, and it's one of the few places tradition reigns."

Intimate weddings

Considering the attention celebrities contend with every day, it’s no wonder that celebrities choose more intimate celebrations of their love. "Celebrities are leaning toward small, private elopements followed by a large party with all of their family and friends at a later date,” noted Brooke Keegan of Brooke Keegan Special Events. While they live their lives in front of the camera, they take a different approach with their weddings. “With privacy being so important,” said Keegan, “completely unplugged weddings will continue to be popular."

It’s even easier for celebrities to protect their privacy and keep their guest list small when they take their weddings on the road. "Destination weddings continue to be on the rise,” said Bridal Bar’s Harmony Walton, “and celebrity couples love them as much as the next couple.” Walton sees more destination celebrity weddings in the future, and predicted that, “they will be held in far off locations like Europe and beyond.” Walton thinks that celebrities will choose places where their friends haven’t been married before, and especially locations where few have ever even visited.

Focus on the guest experience

Enhanced guest experiences are all the rage in weddings in general, and celebrity weddings are no exception. “The 'surprise and delight' element is at the forefront of celebrity weddings,” indicated Fabrice Orlando of Cocoon Events Management Group. Orlando believes that couples will find “ways to enhance the guest experience with breathtaking entrances, fun icebreakers and unexpected entertainment.”

There is so much to be learned about trends in our industry in general, that it can be confusing to know where to start. Celebrity weddings are usually good indicators of what is new and what’s coming next, so don’t wait. Spend some time today checking out what’s happening  in the lives of your favorite high profile couples.
