CS Spotlight: Meet Brittny Drye

June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month, and when world's LGBTQ+ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves. Pride is celebrated annually  to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) Americans through parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts.

As the founder and editor-in-chief of Love Inc., the leading equality-minded wedding blog and print publication, Brittny Drye's inclusive efforts have been celebrated by the New York Times, Forbes, The Advocate, OUT Magazine, Refinery29, NY Daily News, Cosmopolitan, and more. She is a founding editor of the Aisle Society and a member of the 2018-19 North American Advisory Board for the International Academy of Wedding & Events.

Youc an hear from Drye first-hand about working with LGBTQ+ clients at Catersource + The Special Event during her session "Are You Tokenizing? How to Genuinely Market to LGBTQ+ Clients" on Thursday, July 22 at 11:00 a.m.

As event businesses are increasingly looking to give back to the LGBTQ+ community, we must first start with the idea of inclusivity and acceptance. While it may seem smart to jump right into promoting same-sex weddings, it is possible to cross the line and go too far. In this session, Drye reveals the true difference between being equality-minded and tokenizing and how event businesses can promote diversity from a place of sincerity and authenticity.

She will also participate in the "The Editorial Edge: Getting Published in these Times" paenl on Thursday, July 22 at 2:30 p.m.

See you in Miami!
