The Las Vegas Culinary Challenge at Catersource


 

Come and join in the excitement as six teams of two battle it out in this exciting live mystery box competition at the Las Vegas Convention Center. All six teams are by invitation only. They include:

 

Each team will have the same staple ingredients at their station – oil, butter, salt, pepper, sugar and flour. The Mystery Box of ingredients will have 10 to 12 other ingredients. Some of these will be mandatory and some will not.

Teams will have 30 minutes to prepare 10 portions of an original hot appetizer featuring the Mystery Box ingredients. Five portions will be on provided china and five portions will be on provided disposable ware. The five portions on china will be for the live judging and display and the five portions on disposable ware will be handed out by the MC to audience members.

A panel of three certified American Culinary Federation judges and one mystery judge will be judging live as soon as the cooking period is over. Dishes will be judged and scored for taste, presentation, creativity and
originality for a total of 100 points:

• Taste – 40 points
• Presentation – 30 points
• Creativity – 30 points


Chef Eric LeVine, winner of Food Network's Chopped, will host and MC the competition
and the winner will be awarded $3,000, a trophy and a feature in Catersource magazine.
