ServeSafe Alcohol Servers Safety Certification Class

ServSafe Alcohol Program raises the bar in responsible alcohol service training an certification.  ServSafe Alcohol is today's real-world training solution, with practical knowledge and best-in-class resources that help to prepare and protect every operation every day.

The challenges surrounding alcohol service have increased dramatically. There are rising alcohol liability premiums and more sophisticated fake IDs. Stricter dram shop laws and a more litigious environment are also a constant concern. Understand the liability regarding alcohol service and avoid fines, imprisonment, loss of liquor license, and/or the closing of your business.

Types of Law and Liability include:



Criminal Liability. If found criminally liable for serving a minor or a guest who is or appears to be intoxicated, the server and/or the licensee can face fines, probation or jail time depending on the state. The operation could lose its liquor license, have to pay fines and may feel significant consequences in the cost of their insurance.

Civil Liability. If found civilly liable for contributing to a guest's injury, the server, the owner/licensee and the operation all face the possibility of large monetary settlements. Depending on the size of the judgment, this could result in bankruptcy and will most certainly bring hefty court fees.

Dram Shop Laws [in some states], allow for an establishment and its owners and employees to be sued by someone injured by a patron who had been drinking alcohol at the establishment. 
Talk to your insurance broker because many brokers and underwriters offer credits for training or discounted rates on liquor liability insurance for having responsible alcohol service policies and procedures in place. IF YOU ARE SERVING LIQUOR AT THE SHOW, YOU MUST HAVE A VALID ALCOHOL SERVERS CARD.

ServeSafe Food Safety Certification Class

Most state and local jurisdictions are now mandating that food handlers demonstrate food safety knowledge.  The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is nationally recognized and ANSI-CFP accredited. [Please check with you local jurisdiction] To date, more than 3 million ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certifications have been awarded to protect the general public from foodborne illness.  ServSafe is the benchmark in sanitation training throughout the world; exams and materials are available in many languages.

The Nevada Restaurant will be offering the ServSafe Food Safety Certification Class at the 2011 Catersource Conference & Tradeshow. The course is trained with the ServSafe Essentials Fifth Edition which incorporates the most current information in a way that's relevant to today's workforce. It covers critical principles including personal hygiene, cross contamination, time and temperature, receiving and storage, and food safety management systems. This edition includes the latest updates to the 2009 FDA Food Code updates, and applies emerging science-based trends impacting food safety developed by a cross-section of industry experts.

Register early to allow time to receive your materials. You will be mailed a ServSafe Essentials textbook, exam answer sheet, and practice test. We recommend that you read the book and answer the questions at the end of the chapters. The instruction will be a review of each chapter in preparation for the standardized exam. Upon passing, you will be mailed a certificate suitable for framing from the National Restaurant Association.  Please bring 2 number two pencils; you may also want to bring a sweater, and snacks.
