Interactive Dinner, how it works:

When the guests arrive, serve them a great specialty drink and pass some nice hors d’oeuvre. After 30 minutes ask them to sit and have the chef come in the room and address them saying something like this: “Folks, welcome! Tonight will be a wonderful dinning experience but we have a problem. None of my servers or assistants has shown up. So, in a pinch the hostess and I have decided to use what we have at hand, YOU.” Then the Chef can proceed to explain to them that tonight they will have four courses and that he will require 4 of them to come to the kitchen and assist him in the plating, garnishing and correct serving of each course. Once in the kitchen, the chef will give them each a quick class on the food, preparation and plating techniques and proper serving etiquette.

This is really a fun way to interact with the guests.  Every guest loves to be with the chef. 

Helpful Hints: 
• Keep the guest count between 12 and 20.
• Do a 3, 5 or 7 course meal.
• Have individual aprons made for each guest with there names on it. (A great party gift – put your logo on it somewhere)
• Be prepared to guide them in the kitchen. Be firm with them in the kitchen and very articulate.
• Have lot of latex gloves on hand and a great spirit.
• Pick the people to serve each course by pulling there names from a hat.
• Use great china.
• Bring one helper.
• Encourage the guests to critique each other’s plate presentations and service ability.
• You prep the foods just guide them in the plating by showing them your example plate.
• Every plate is like a clock, certain food goes at each time. I.E., the lobster at 12:00, the lamb at 4:00 etc.
